Abstract
Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a transmitting device (405) selects an indication of a seed to be used by a forwarding device (350), such as a passive device with a reconfigurable intelligent surface, to generate a configuration for reflecting or forwarding signals. The transmitting device transmits the indication of the seed to the forwarding device (605). The transmitting device transmits the signals (625) to a receiving device via the forwarding device. The transmitting device receives measurements of the signals (630). Numerous other aspects are described.
Claims29
A transmitting device for wireless communication, comprising:
- a memory;
- and
- one or more processors, coupled to the memory, configured to:
- select an indication of a seed to be used by a forwarding device to generate a configuration for reflecting or forwarding signals by using the seed as an input to a pseudo-random generator;
- transmit the indication of the seed to the forwarding device;
- transmit the signals to a receiving device via the forwarding device;
- and
- receive measurements of the signals.
A forwarding device for wireless communication, comprising:
- a memory;
- and
- one or more processors, coupled to the memory, configured to:
- receive, from a transmitting device, an indication of a seed to be used by the forwarding device to pseudo-randomly generate a configuration for reflecting or forwarding signals transmitted from the transmitting device;
- generate the configuration pseudo-randomly using the seed as an input;
- and
- configure the forwarding device to reflect or forward the signals according to the configuration.
A receiving device for wireless communication, comprising:
- a memory;
- and
- one or more processors, coupled to the memory, configured to:
- receive, from a transmitting device, an indication of a seed to be used by a forwarding device to pseudo-randomly generate a configuration using the seed as an input, wherein the configuration is for reflecting or forwarding signals transmitted from the transmitting device;
- generate the configuration pseudo-randomly using the seed as an input;
- and
- configure the receiving device to receive signals reflected or relayed from the forwarding device based at least in part on the configuration.
