Resilient medium voltage modular multiport power conversion system

A method for modular power conversion and routing, comprising:

• connecting two or more of a plurality of modules to a plurality of windings and at least one galvanically isolated port, creating a power conversion subsystem;
• wherein the plurality of modules each comprise a plurality of switches;
• providing a plurality of power conversion subsystems, creating a power conversion system;
• controlling, via a controller, an amount of power supplied to or sourced from the at least one galvanically isolated port;
• and
• connecting the at least one galvanically isolated port to at least one source and/or load;
• and
• detecting, via the controller, a load spike at one or more of the at least one load;
• thereby eliminating the need for switchgear, circuit breakers, fuses, or relays external to the power conversion system.

A system for modular power conversion and routing, comprising:

• a plurality of modules, wherein each of the plurality of modules comprises a plurality of switches;
• a plurality of power conversion subsystems, wherein each of the plurality of power conversion subsystems comprise two or more of the plurality of modules and at least one port;
• a controller operable to control an amount of power supplied to or sourced from each of the at least one port;
• and
• at least one source and at least one load;
• wherein each of the at least one port is operable to connect to one of the at least one source or one of the at least one load;
• and
• wherein one or more of each of the at least one port connected to the one of the at least one load is operable to provide current limiting, arc-flash reduction, and/or fault isolation for the one of the at least one load;
• thereby eliminating the need for switchgear, circuit breakers, fuses, or relays external to the system.
