System and method for providing digital guidance corresponding to software applications

A non-transitory computer-readable medium for providing digital guidance corresponding to software applications, the non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions that, when executed by data processing system comprising one or more processors, performs the steps comprising:

• acquiring an image of a current user interface of a software application;
• obtaining a template image of an element of interest from a previously processed template user interface image corresponding to the current user interface, wherein obtaining the template image of the element of interest comprises:
• obtaining bounding boxes using a plurality of binary images of the template user interface, each of the bounding boxes encapsulating a respective one of a potential element of interest among elements present in the template user interface image;
• and
• receiving a selection of at least one of the bounding boxes, wherein the selected bounding box corresponds to the element of interest among the potential element of interest;
• identifying the element of interest in the current user interface by using the template image of the element of interest and the image of the current user interface;
• and
• displaying digital guidance associated with the element of interest in the current user interface.
