Automated downscaling of data stores using parallel data replication

A system comprising:

• a data store including computer-executable instructions;
• and
• one or more processors configured to execute the computer-executable instructions, wherein execution of the computer-executable instructions causes the system to:
• receive, at the data store, a request to scale down the data store based on a set of metrics associated with a set of data stores of a stateful service indicating underutilization associated with at least a portion of the set of data stores;
• maintain, at a ledger manager, an indication of a set of ledgers, associated with the data store, for which to replicate;
• based on the request to scale down the data store, initiate, via the data store, a plurality of scale-down jobs to perform parallel replication of ledgers associated with the data store, wherein the plurality of scale-down jobs replicate at least a portion of the set of ledgers in parallel from the data store to one or more other data stores based on the indication of the set of ledgers to replicate maintained at the ledger manager, wherein a first scale-down job replicates a first ledger, having a first plurality of data, of the set of ledgers to a first data store and a second scale-down job concurrently replicates a second ledger, having a second plurality of data, of the set of ledgers to a second data store, wherein, as the first ledger replication occurs based on the first scale-down job, maintaining a lock state for the first ledger for by creating a lock path for the first ledger such that another scale-down job is prevented from replicating the first ledger;
• identify that the plurality of scale-down jobs have completed ledger replication of the set of ledgers associated with the data store;
• and
• based on the completion of the ledger replication of the set of ledgers associated with the data store, terminate the data store to reduce computer resource utilization.

Non-transitory computer-readable media including computer-executable instructions that, when executed by a computing system, cause the computing system to:

• receive, at a data store, a request to scale down the data store based on a set of metrics associated with a set of data stores of a stateful service indicating underutilization associated with at least a portion of the set of data stores;
• maintain, at a ledger manager, an indication of a set of ledgers, associated with the data store, for which to replicate;
• based on the request to scale down the data store, initiate, via the data store, a plurality of scale-down jobs to perform parallel replication of ledgers associated with the data store, wherein the plurality of scale-down jobs replicate at least a portion of the set of ledgers in parallel from the data store to one or more other data stores based on the indication of the set of ledgers to replicate maintained at the ledger manager, wherein a first scale-down job replicates a first ledger, having a first plurality of data, of the set of ledgers to a first data store and a second scale-down job concurrently replicates a second ledger, having a second plurality of data, of the set of ledgers to a second data store, wherein, as the first ledger replication occurs based on the first scale-down job, maintaining a lock state for the first ledger for by creating a lock path for the first ledger such that another scale-down job is prevented from replicating the first ledger;
• identify that the plurality of scale-down jobs have completed ledger replication of the set of ledgers associated with the data store;
• and
• based on the completion of the ledger replication of the set of ledgers associated with the data store, terminate the data store to reduce computer resource utilization.
