A control method for a robotic pool cleaner, wherein

• when performing a pool wall cleaning task and satisfying a wall-climbing condition, the robotic pool cleaner travels in a wall-climbing path toward a waterline, wherein the pool wall cleaning task is associated with a non-planar pool wall to be cleaned;
• and
• when partially or completely located in a first wall area on the non-planar pool wall and unable to further travel in the wall-climbing path toward the waterline, the robotic pool cleaner moves in a direction opposite to the wall-climbing path, thereby cleaning at least part of the first wall area and reducing repeated attempts to climb through the first wall area,
• wherein when the wall-climbing path passes through an open cavity formed on a surface of the first wall area, and a proportion of the robotic pool cleaner's body that the open cavity is capable of accommodating is greater than a preset proportion of the robotic pool cleaner's body, the robotic pool cleaner is unable to further travel in the wall-climbing path toward the waterline.
