Abstract
An inspection apparatus detects a defect of an image formed by scanning a sheet with an image formed thereon conveyed from an image forming unit, wherein the detecting the defect is to detect a defect at an inspection level decided based on sheet management information for linking an inspection level with sheet information and sheet information of the sheet with the image formed thereon.

An inspection apparatus comprising:
- one or more memory devices that store a set of instructions;
- and
- one or more processors that execute the set of instructions to:
- detect a defect of an image formed by scanning, by a scan unit, a sheet with an image formed thereon conveyed from an image forming unit;
- and
- determine an inspection level based on obtained sheet management information that links sheet information of the scanned sheet, wherein:
- the sheet information identifies a sheet type of the scanned sheet and define at least one inspection level associated with the sheet type.
