Abstract
A device cooling system includes a first coolant loop that circulates a first cooling media through a device; a second coolant loop that circulates a second cooling media through the device; a thermoelectric cooler (TEC) positioned between the first coolant loop and the second coolant loop; and control electronics configured to selectively drive the TEC to transfer heat between the first coolant loop and the second coolant loop.
Claims16
A device cooling system including:
- an air coolant loop that circulates air through a device;
- a liquid coolant loop that circulates liquid through the device;
- a thermoelectric cooler (TEC) positioned between the air coolant loop and the liquid coolant loop;
- and
- control electronics to selectively drive the TEC to mitigate power oscillations for the device, the control electronics configured to:
- selectively toggle the TEC from an off state to an on state to transfer heat away from the liquid coolant loop and into the air coolant loop responsive to determining that power consumption of the device is less than a predefined threshold;
- and
- selectively toggle the TEC from the on state to the off state responsive to determining that power consumption of the device is no longer less than a predefined threshold.
5 more elements
A method for operating a cooling system in a device, the method comprising:
- selectively driving a thermoelectric cooler (TEC) to mitigate power oscillations for the device by performing operations that include:
- selectively toggling the TEC of the device from an off state to an on state to transfer heat away from a liquid coolant loop and into an air coolant loop responsive to determining that power consumption of the device is less than a predefined threshold, the TEC being positioned to transfer heat between the air coolant loop circulating air and the liquid coolant loop circulating liquid;
- and
- selectively toggling the TEC from the on state to the off state responsive to determining that power consumption of the device is no longer less than a predefined threshold.
