Actuating mechanism for actuating covers for vehicles

An actuating mechanism for actuating a cover for a flush door handle of a vehicle, wherein the cover is pivotably movable between a closed position and an opened position, the actuating mechanism comprising:

• an electric motor, having a drive shaft;
• a pivoting apparatus configured to couple to the cover, wherein a rotational movement from the drive shaft is transferred to the pivoting apparatus via a coupling to pivot the cover,
• wherein the coupling has a normal state, in which a torque of the drive shaft is transferred to the cover continuously increasing up to a first torque threshold, and an emphatic state, in which the torque of the drive shaft is transferred to the cover and abruptly increased up to a second torque threshold, wherein the second torque threshold is higher than the first torque threshold;
• wherein the coupling comprises a first coupling element which is connected to the drive shaft in a form-fit manner and a second coupling element connected to the cover, and wherein the first and second coupling elements are rotatable in relation to one another and biased into a home position by a spring;
• and
• wherein the first coupling element comprises a first protrusion having a first spring abutment face and an opposite second spring abutment face, and wherein a first end of the spring is biased against the first spring abutment face of the first protrusion and a second end of the spring is biased against the second spring abutment face of the first protrusion.
