Abstract
An actuating system, including a latching and locking system, for an actuatable door. The actuating system comprises a rotatable drive shaft, a rotatable latch shaft a latching device, and a locking device. The latching device includes at least two latches, a latch securing unit for maintaining the at least two latches in the latched position, and at least two lock lever counterparts. The locking device includes a lock lever for engaging with the at least two lock lever counterparts to prevent the latch securing unit from disengaging from the securing position, thereby locking the at least two latches in the latched position when the lock lever is in a locked position.
Claims20
An actuating system for an actuatable door, comprising:
- a rotatable drive shaft;
- a single continuous rotatable latch shaft;
- a latching device comprising:
- at least two latches that are non-rotatably mounted to the single continuous rotatable latch shaft and adapted for maintaining the actuatable door in a closed position when the at least two latches are in a latched position,
- a latch securing unit that is adapted for maintaining the at least two latches in the latched position when the latch securing unit is in a securing position, and
- at least two lock lever counterparts that are non-rotatably mounted to the same single continuous rotatable latch shaft;
- and
- a locking device comprising:
- a lock lever that is non-rotatably mounted to the rotatable drive shaft and adapted for engaging with the at least two lock lever counterparts to prevent the latch securing unit from disengaging from the securing position thereby locking the at least two latches in the latched position when the lock lever is in a locked position.
An actuating system for an actuatable door, comprising:
- a rotatable drive shaft;
- a common rotatable latch shaft;
- at least two latches that are non-rotatably mounted to the common rotatable latch shaft and configured to maintain the actuatable door in a closed position when in a latched state;
- at least two lock lever counterparts that are non-rotatably mounted to the common rotatable latch shaft;
- and
- a locking device comprising a lock lever that is non-rotatably mounted to the rotatable drive shaft, wherein the lock lever is movable into a locked position in which the lock lever simultaneously engages the at least two lock lever counterparts to lock the common rotatable latch shaft against rotation;
- wherein, in the locked position, a first engagement interface between the lock lever and a first one of the at least two lock lever counterparts forms a first separate load path for transferring load from the common rotatable latch shaft to the locking device, and a second engagement interface between the lock lever and a second one of the at least two lock lever counterparts forms a second separate load path for transferring load from the common rotatable latch shaft to the locking device.
