Abstract
3D printable ink compositions for forming objects, films and coatings are provided. Also provided are methods of printing the ink compositions and methods for making the ink compositions. The ink compositions include an elastic polymer binder and may have high loadings of solid particles.
Claims19
A multi-part three-dimensional object, the object comprising:
- a solidified first deposited layer and a solidified second deposited layer each arranged in a self-supported vertical arrangement wherein the solidified first deposited layer and the solidified second deposited layer are melded together by an adhesive layer comprising:
- a solvent system comprising at least a primary organic solvent and one or more additional organic solvents, the one or more additional organic solvents having lower vapor pressure(s) than the primary organic solvent at room temperature;
- wherein the solidified first deposited layer and the solidified second deposited layer are separately formed;
- wherein at least one of the solidified first deposited layer and the second deposited layer is modified by the primary organic solvent by dissolution;
- and
- wherein at least one of the solidified first deposited layer and the solidified second deposited layer is formed from a 3D ink composition comprising:
- the solvent system and a polymer that is soluble in the solvent system at room temperature;
- and
- solid particles that are insoluble in the solvent system at room temperature.
