A repositionable bidirectional roller assembly for conveyors includes bidirectional wheels that enable the diversion of conveyed items from the conveyor in a diversion direction different from the transport direction of the conveyor. The repositionable bidirectional roller assembly includes a plurality of bidirectional wheels that rotate in the diversion direction, and a hub assembly at each end having a reversibly compressible shaft which enables the bidirectional roller assembly to be easily inserted into, and removed from, an existing conveyor. By virtue of the reversibly compressible hub assembly shaft, operational flexibility is provided, since any bidirectional roller assembly can easily be removed from a given position and reinserted in the conveyor at a desired different position, thus enabling the diversion of conveyed items to be attained at any point along the conveyor length.
A repositionable bidirectional roller assembly for use in a roller conveyor, said repositionable bidirectional roller assembly comprising:
A roller conveyor configured to transport conveyed items along a transport path, and to divert certain of the conveyed items therefrom along a diversion path, said roller conveyor comprising:
A method of reconfiguring a unidirectional roller conveyor to include therein a plurality of repositionable bidirectional roller assemblies, said method comprising the steps of:
A repositionable bidirectional roller assembly for use in a roller conveyor, said repositionable bidirectional roller assembly comprising:
