Abstract
The invention is the complex technical solution covering the method for the continuous liquid jet formation and ejection, the generator for ejection such jet and the special shutter for blocking the jet in the generator and designed for use in the method. A distinctive feature is the switching between the two jets, which causes neither a stop of the liquid flow in the generator nor fluctuations in the liquid pressure in it, when one jet is drained to the source of liquid. The invention is intended for organizing the process of metered ejection of free continuous liquid jets, for example, liquid chemical treatment agents, without loss of liquid outside its trajectory.
Claims20
A continuous liquid jet generator, comprising:
- a chamber configured to receive a liquid under pressure;
- a liquid inlet in fluid communication with the chamber;
- an outlet surface of the chamber spaced from the liquid inlet;
- first and second outlets formed in the outlet surface, the first and second outlets being adjacent to one another and having equal cross-sectional flow areas;
- a shutter positioned adjacent to the outlet surface and movable relative thereto between a first end position, a second end position, and intermediate positions;
- wherein, in the first end position, the shutter fully opens the first outlet and fully closes the second outlet;
- wherein, in the second end position, the shutter fully opens the second outlet and fully closes the first outlet;
- wherein, in each intermediate position, the shutter partially opens both the first outlet and the second outlet;
- wherein a combined open flow area of the first and second outlets remains substantially constant across the first end position, the second end position, and the intermediate positions;
- and
- an actuator coupled to the shutter and configured to move the shutter between the first end position and the second end position.
A method of generating a continuous liquid jet, comprising:
- supplying a liquid to a chamber through a liquid inlet;
- directing the liquid toward first and second adjacent outlets formed in an outlet surface of the chamber;
- moving a shutter between a first end position and a second end position while maintaining a substantially constant combined open flow area of the first and second outlets;
- and
- ejecting continuous liquid jets from the first outlet and the second outlet in accordance with the position of the shutter.
