Golf club heads and methods to manufacture golf club heads

A set of iron-type golf club heads comprising:

• a first golf club head having a first loft angle and a second golf club head having a second loft angle different from the first loft angle, each golf club head including a face portion comprising:
• a maximum face portion thickness and a minimum face portion thickness;
• a first quadrant in an upper toe-side portion, the first quadrant comprising a first region including the maximum face portion thickness;
• a second quadrant in an upper heel-side portion, the second quadrant comprising a second region;
• a third quadrant in a lower heel-side portion, the third quadrant comprising a third region;
• and
• a fourth quadrant in a lower toe-side portion, the fourth quadrant comprising a fourth region including the maximum face portion thickness,
• wherein the first region and the fourth region have different shapes,
• wherein the first region of the first golf club head and the first region of the second golf club head have different shapes, and
• wherein the fourth region of the first golf club head and the fourth region of the second golf club head have different shapes.

A golf club head comprising:

• a body portion;
• and
• a face portion coupled to the body portion, the face portion comprising:
• a front side having at least one groove and a back side opposite the front side;
• a perimeter portion having a perimeter portion thickness and a perimeter portion edge defined by a face toe edge, a face heel edge, a face top edge, and a face sole edge;
• a center region defined by an intersection of a horizontal plane of the body portion and a vertical plane bisecting the face portion;
• a maximum face portion thickness at a location offset from the center region toward the face toe edge;
• a minimum face portion thickness;
• and
• a face portion thickness transition portion that transitions from the maximum face portion thickness toward the perimeter portion along a plurality of gradients comprising a first gradient having a first gradient slope and a second gradient having a second gradient slope,
• wherein the first gradient extends from the maximum face portion thickness toward the face toe edge,
• wherein the second gradient extends from the maximum face portion thickness toward the face heel edge, and
• wherein the first gradient slope and the second gradient slope are different.
