Abstract
It relates to an O/W emulsion which can be inverted to a W/O emulsion and the W/O emulsion inverted from the O/W emulsion, wherein the O/W emulsion is obtained from radical polymerization under emulsion polymerization reaction condition of at least one polyorganosiloxane having at least two aliphatic unsaturated carbon-carbon bonds, and optionally an organohydrogenpolysiloxane, in the presence of a polyether-modified polysiloxane. It also relates to preparation process of the O/W emulsion and the W/O emulsion, and a personal care composition containing the emulsion.
Claims14
A process of preparing an O/W emulsion of a crosslinked silicone, comprising:
- combining at least one polyorganosiloxane having at least two aliphatic unsaturated carbon-carbon bonds, and optionally an organohydrogenpolysiloxane, in the presence of a polyether-modified polysiloxane to form a mixture, wherein the polyether-modified polysiloxane is used in an amount of about 5 to about 50 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of the total amount of the polyorganosiloxane having at least two aliphatic unsaturated carbon-carbon bonds and the organohydrogenpolysiloxane when present;
- and
- subjecting the mixture to radical polymerization under emulsion polymerization reaction conditions.
