Sleep quality assessment and in-bed state monitoring

A method for sleep quality assessment using a wearable device, comprising:

• obtaining, by a processor, physiological data of a subject comprising at least one of pulse rate, respiratory rate or heart rate acquired by a physiological sensor of the wearable device;
• determining, by the processor, sleep data of the subject by performing sleep recognition on the physiological data of the subject;
• extracting, by the processor, sleep feature data from the sleep data based on a reference core sleep period of the subject, wherein the reference core sleep period comprises an individual core sleep period of the subject reflecting a sleep habit or circadian rhythm of the subject and a collective core sleep period of a group in a designated geographic area to which the subject belongs, the collective core sleep period of the group reflecting a sleep habit or circadian rhythm of the group in the designated geographic area;
• and
• obtaining, by the processor, one or more parameters indicating a sleep quality of the subject based on the sleep feature data,
• wherein the method further comprises:
• determining an in-bed state of the subject based on acceleration data acquired by the wearable device;
• and
• in response to the in-bed state indicating being in bed, causing the physiological sensor of the wearable device to acquire the physiological data of the subject for sleep quality analysis.
