Static discharge mitigation of vacuum cleaners

A vacuum cleaner system comprising:

• a motor-impeller assembly configured to generate fluid flow, the fluid flow passing through a hose inlet;
• a power source configured to supply power to the motor-impeller assembly;
• and
• a hose including
• a proximal hose end configured to be coupled to the hose inlet,
• a distal hose end spaced from the proximal hose end,
• a hose body coupled to the proximal hose end and the distal hose end, the hose body having an inner layer with an inner surface through which the fluid flow passes and an outer layer with an outer surface open to the surroundings of the hose, and
• anti-static material at least partially forming at least one of the inner layer and the outer layer, the anti-static material, the anti-static material being applied to either the inner surface of the hose body or the outer surface of the hose body,
• wherein the inner layer is adapted to inhibit static charge build-up on the hose body by inhibiting static charge generation due to contact and to thereby promote retention of static charge on dirt particles carried in the fluid flow;
• wherein the inner layer has an inner layer surface resistance lower than an outer layer surface resistance of the outer layer;
• and
• wherein at least one of the inner layer and the outer layer comprises an injection molded plastic and an anti-static additive.
