Abstract
A lighting system for a poultry house is disclosed which includes a plurality of lights movable in the vertical direction, projecting light to different areas of the poultry house at prearranged times and projecting light of different intensity in the poultry house at prearranged times through the raising and lowering of the height of the lights. The lighting system provides adjustable parameters in the areas of the poultry house being lighted and the intensity of these areas across the interior of the poultry house. The system provides the poultry with migration options to areas of lower or higher light intensity, thereby improving management practices of the poultry.
Claims10
A lighting system for a poultry house to control the amount of light and the intensity of light available to poultry in the poultry house during a poultry production cycle comprising
- a poultry house having a ceiling and a floor, at least two straight lines of a plurality of unitary feeders,
- at least two straight lines of a plurality of lights adapted to be raised and lowered in relation to the floor of the poultry house and the plurality of unitary feeders, wherein the lights are adapted to be in a raised position in the range of about 96 inches to 16 inches above the plurality of unitary feeders during the early stages of the poultry production cycle and in a lowered position in the later stages of the poultry production cycle, wherein the early stages of the poultry production cycle comprise at least the first seven days of the cycle,
- and the plurality of lights adapted to control the amount of light and the intensity of light provided to the poultry at the plurality of feeders at predetermined times during the poultry production cycle,
- wherein the at least two straight lines of the plurality of lights are adapted to be suspended from the ceiling approximately a foot away in a horizontal direction from a respective at least two straight lines of a plurality of unitary feeders.
