Abstract
Provided herein are Brassica oleracea plants being resistant to the plant pathogen Albugo candida and wherein the resistance is encoded by one genomic region on chromosome. Also provided herein are methods for identifying the present Albugo candida resistance and to molecular markers for use in the present methods.
Claims9
A cultivated Brassica oleracea plant resistant to the plant pathogen Albugo candida, wherein the resistance is encoded by one genomic region located on chromosome 2 between base pairs 5373001 and 6058829 of the Brassica oleracea reference genome JZS v2, wherein said plant comprises in its genome SEQ ID No. 1, SEQ ID No. 3, SEQ ID No. 5, SEQ ID No. 7, SEQ ID No. 9, SEQ ID No. 11, SEQ ID No. 13, SEQ ID No. 15, SEQ ID No. 17, SEQ ID No. 19, SEQ ID No. 21, SEQ ID No. 23, SEQ ID No. 25, SEQ ID No. 27, SEQ ID No. 29, SEQ ID No. 31, SEQ ID No. 33, SEQ ID No. 35, SEQ ID No. 37, SEQ ID No. 39, SEQ ID No. 41, and SEQ ID No. 43.
A method for producing a Brassica oleracea plant that is resistant to the plant pathogen Albugo candida, the method comprising:
- detecting in a genome of a first plant SEQ ID No. 1, SEQ ID No. 3, SEQ ID No. 5, SEQ ID No. 7, SEQ ID No. 9, SEQ ID No. 11, SEQ ID No. 13, SEQ ID No. 15, SEQ ID No. 17, SEQ ID No. 19, SEQ ID No. 21, SEQ ID No. 23, SEQ ID No. 25, SEQ ID No. 27, SEQ ID No. 29, SEQ ID No. 31, SEQ ID No. 33, SEQ ID No. 35, SEQ ID No. 37, SEQ ID No. 39, SEQ ID No. 41, and SEQ ID No. 43;
- crossing the first plant with a second plant to produce offspring;
- and
- selecting offspring that are resistant to Albugo candida.
