Uplink transmit power control

An apparatus, comprising:

• at least one processor;
• and
• at least one memory storing instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the apparatus to perform:
• store, based on a radio resource control configuration received from an access node, exactly two transmit power control parameter sets for physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) transmissions, wherein:
• each transmit power control parameter set comprises at least a target reception power parameter p0 and a pathloss compensation factor α,
• both transmit power control parameter sets are statically bound, in the radio resource control configuration, to a same single uplink transmission configuration indicator (TCI) state, and
• no other transmit power control parameter set is associated with the same uplink TCI state;
• receive, from the access node, a single downlink control information (DCI) message that:
• schedules exactly one PUSCH transmission,
• activates the same single uplink TCI state for the scheduled PUSCH transmission, and
• includes a one-bit transmit power control parameter set indicator field carried in the DCI scheduling the PUSCH transmission;
• select, at a medium access control layer of the apparatus and prior to transmission of the scheduled PUSCH, one and only one of the two transmit power control parameter sets solely based on the value of the one-bit indicator field, wherein:
• a first value of the one-bit indicator field selects a first one of the two transmit power control parameter sets associated with the uplink TCI state, and
• a second value of the one-bit indicator field selects a second one of the two transmit power control parameter sets associated with the uplink TCI state;
• determine uplink transmit power for the scheduled PUSCH transmission using only the p0 and α parameters of the selected transmit power control parameter set, without reference to:
• any sounding reference signal resource indicator (SRI),
• any transmit power control command conveyed outside the DCI scheduling the PUSCH transmission,
• any medium access control (MAC) control element modifying a pathloss reference signal, or
• any transmit power control parameter set configured for a different TCI state;
• and
• transmit the scheduled PUSCH transmission using the determined uplink transmit power.
