Sensor aided beam management

A mobile device comprising:

• a memory;
• at least one sensor for detecting data;
• and
• one or more processors communicatively coupled to the memory and the at least one sensor, the one or more processors, either alone or in combination, configured to:
• synchronize an operation of the at least one sensor with a Connected Mode Discontinuous Reception (CDRX) mode cycle period of the mobile device;
• receive the data detected by the at least one sensor;
• determine positional information of the mobile device based on the received data;
• determine activity information of the mobile device based on the received data;
• determine an appropriate length of the CDRX mode cycle period based on the positional information and the activity information;
• transmit the appropriate length of the CDRX mode cycle period to a base station;
• and
• receive a new length for the CDRX mode cycle period from the base station, wherein the new length is based on the appropriate length of the CDRX mode cycle period.

A mobile device comprising:

• means for synchronizing an operation of at least one sensor in the mobile device with a Connected Mode Discontinuous Reception (CDRX) mode cycle period of the mobile device;
• means for receiving data detected by the at least one sensor;
• means for determining positional information of the mobile device based on the received data;
• means for determining activity information of the mobile device based on the received data;
• means for determining an appropriate length of the CDRX mode cycle period based on the positional information and the activity information;
• means for transmitting the appropriate length of the CDRX mode cycle period to a base station;
• and
• means for receiving a new length for the CDRX mode cycle period from the base station, wherein the new length is based on the appropriate length of the CDRX mode cycle period.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium comprising code, which, when executed by a processor, causes the processor to manage antenna beams in a mobile device, the non-transitory computer-readable storage medium comprising:

• code for synchronizing an operation of at least one sensor of the mobile device with a Connected Mode Discontinuous Reception (CDRX) mode cycle period of the mobile device;
• code for receiving data detected by the at least one sensor;
• code for determining positional information of the mobile device based on the received data;
• code for determining activity information of the mobile device based on the received data;
• code for determining an appropriate length of the CDRX mode cycle period based on the positional information and the activity information;
• code for transmitting the appropriate length of the CDRX mode cycle period to a base station;
• and
• code for receiving a new length for the CDRX mode cycle period from the base station, wherein the new length is based on the appropriate length of the CDRX mode cycle period.
