Electronic device and electronic device control method

A method of controlling an electronic device, comprising:

• storing preference information of a user, the preference information comprising a plurality of preferred video contents and a plurality of preferred genres based on a viewing time of video content;
• based on receiving a user command to display a recommended channel, identifying a plurality of channels for providing video content at a point in time at which the user command is received, the video content corresponding to the plurality of preferred video contents the plurality of preferred genres, wherein the plurality of identified channels provide the video content with each of a plurality of different predetermined broadcasting durations;
• identifying the recommended channel from among the plurality of identified channels, wherein a ratio of a provision duration, during which the video content is provided by the recommended channel from the point in time to a predetermined broadcasting duration is the greatest from among a plurality of ratios corresponding to the plurality of identified channels, the plurality of ratios being obtained based on a plurality of time durations corresponding to each of the plurality of identified channels, each of the plurality of time durations being a time duration between the point in time at which the user command is received and one of (i) a predetermined start time of a video content provided by each of the plurality of identified channels, and (ii) a predetermined end time of the video content provided by each of the plurality of identified channels;
• and
• displaying channel information about the identified recommended channel based on the preference information,
• wherein each of the plurality of different predetermined broadcasting durations is a duration between the predetermined start time and the predetermined end time.

A non-transitory computer readable medium for storing computer readable program code or instructions which are executable by a processor to perform a method for controlling an electronic device, the method comprising:

• storing preference information of a user, the preference information comprising a plurality of preferred video contents and a plurality of preferred genres based on a viewing time of video content;
• based on receiving a user command to display a recommended channel, identifying a plurality of channels for providing video content at a point in time at which the user command is received, the video content corresponding to the plurality of preferred video contents the plurality of preferred genres, wherein the plurality of identified channels provide the video content with each of a plurality of different predetermined broadcasting durations;
• identifying the recommended channel from among the plurality of identified channels, wherein a ratio of a provision duration, during which the video content is provided by the recommended channel from the point in time to a predetermined broadcasting duration is the greatest from among a plurality of ratios corresponding to the plurality of identified channels, the plurality of ratios being obtained based on a plurality of time durations corresponding to each of the plurality of identified channels, each of the plurality of time durations being a time duration between the point in time at which the user command is received, and one of (i) a predetermined start time of a video content provided by each of the plurality of identified channels, and (ii) a predetermined end time of the video content provided by each of the plurality of identified channels;
• and
• displaying channel information about the identified recommended channel based on the preference information,
• wherein each of the plurality of different predetermined broadcasting durations is a duration between the predetermined start time and the predetermined end time.
