Abstract
An engine identifying segments or portions of one source material or source file common to or found in another source material or file. The engine may receive a first data stream in binary form as well as a second stream in binary form. The engine may include a data stream processor or pre-processor programed to translate the first and second data streams to generate respective first and second processed data streams. The commonality between the first and second processed data streams may be greater than the commonality between the first and second data streams themselves. Also, a comparator may be programmed to compare the first and second process data streams and identify binary segments found in both the first and second processed data streams.
Claims19
A system of at least one processor operably connected by at least one bus to at least one memory device in order to process binary data, where binary data means each binary digit in order, the system comprising:
- a first data stream processor programmed to receive the data of a first data stream of first digital data, binary and obtained from a first digital bus;
- a second data stream processor programmed to receive the data of a second data stream, the second data stream being binary and independent from the first data stream, of second digital data obtained from a second digital bus, where independent means no relationship is known therebetween;
- the first data stream processor further programmed to translate the first data stream into a first processed data stream in a common form, comprising at least one of a register transfer language representation, a de-optimization representation, a frequency representation, a compression representation, a data flow representation, a graphical representation, a decimal representation, a hexadecimal representation, a binary representation, and an ASCII representation, to facilitate a direct comparison;
- the second data stream processor, selected from the at least one processor and programmed to translate the second data stream into a second processed data stream to the common form to facilitate the direct comparison with the first processed data stream, wherein the common form maintains integrity of the first and second data streams, where integrity means no accidental nor intentional destruction, alteration, or loss of data occurs, yet increases commonality between the first and second processed data streams;
- the first data stream processor further programmed to extract a first sample from the first processed data stream;
- the second data stream processor further programmed to extract a second sample from the second processed data stream;
- the first data stream processor further programmed to transform the first sample into a first processed sample;
- the second data stream processor further programmed to transform the second sample into a second processed sample;
- a comparator programmed to compare the first and second processed samples and identify binary segments common to both the first and second processed samples;
- and
- a post-identification data stream processor programmed to convert the identified binary segments into digital files reflecting commonality between the first and second data streams.
A method to analyze binary digital data streams in a system comprising one or more digital buses operably connecting one or more processors to one or more memory devices, the method comprising, where binary means all binary digits in order, disregarding any formats or protocols:
- receiving, by a first data stream processor, selected from the at least one processor, a first data stream of first binary digital traffic from a first digital bus;
- receiving, by a second data stream processor, selected from the at least one processor, a second data stream, the second data stream being independent from the first data stream, of second digital traffic from a second digital bus, where independent means having no known relationship;
- translating, by the first data stream processor, the first data stream into a first processed data stream in a common form to facilitate a direct comparison;
- translating, by the second data stream processor the second data stream from second digital traffic selected from data from one of the first digital bus and a second digital bus into a second processed data stream to the common form to facilitate the direct comparison with the first processed data stream, wherein the common form maintains integrity of the first and second data streams, such that no accidental or intentional destruction, alteration, or loss of data occurs, yet increases commonality between the first and second processed data streams;
- extracting, by the first data stream processor, a first sample based on content of, and using addresses of digital data in, the first processed data stream;
- extracting, by the second data stream processor, a second sample based on content of, and using addresses of digital data in, the second processed data stream;
- transforming, by the first data stream processor, the first sample into a first processed sample;
- transforming, by the second data stream processor, the second sample into a second processed sample;
- comparing, by a comparator, the first and second processed samples;
- identifying, by the comparator, binary segments common to both the first and second processed samples;
- and
- converting, by a post-identification data stream processor, the identified binary segments into digital files reflecting commonality between the first and second data streams.
An article constituted by one or more non-transitory, computer-readable memory devices storing executables, each constituting sets of computer readable instructions executable by one or more processors, the executables comprising:
- a data stream processor executable programmed to receive a first data stream consisting of first digital data, in binary form, meaning binary digits in order with no acknowledgement of any protocol or format, obtained from a first digital bus;
- another data stream processor executable programmed to receive a second data stream, independent from the first data stream, of second digital data obtained from a second digital bus resulting in the second data stream being independent from the first data stream, where independent means no relationship is known therebetween;
- the first data stream processor executable further programmed to translate the first data stream into a first processed data stream in a common form, operative to directly compare content thereof;
- the other data stream processor executable, selected from one of the first data stream processor executable and a second data stream processor executable, programmed to translate the second data stream into a second processed data stream in the common form to be directly comparable with the first processed data stream, wherein the common form maintains integrity of the first and second data streams, yet increases commonality between the first and second processed data streams, where integrity means no accidental nor intentional destruction, alteration, or loss of data occurs;
- the first data stream processor executable further programmed to extract a first sample from the first processed data stream;
- the second data stream processor executable further programmed to extract a second sample from the second processed data stream;
- the first data stream processor executable further programmed to transform the first sample into a first processed sample;
- the second data stream processor executable further programmed to transform the second sample into a second processed sample;
- a comparator executable programmed to compare the first and second processed samples and identify binary segments common to both the first and second processed samples;
- and
- a post-identification data stream processor executable programmed to convert the identified binary segments into digital files reflecting commonality between the first and second data streams.
