Factors affecting measurement period formulation for positioning

A user equipment (UE), comprising:

• a memory;
• a communication interface;
• and
• at least one processor communicatively coupled to the memory and the communication interface, the at least one processor configured to:
• receive, via the communication interface, a request location information message from a network entity, the request location information message including one or more parameters indicating a configured number of measurement samples needed during a measurement period during which the UE is expected to perform one or more positioning measurements, wherein the configured number of measurement samples taken within the measurement period is one;
• and
• perform the one or more positioning measurements of one or more positioning reference signal (PRS) resources on a first positioning frequency layer during the measurement period, wherein the measurement period is based on the one or more PRS resources and the configured number of measurement samples.
