Abstract
A connector comprises a housing, a signal contact, an outer shield, a first potting reservoir, and a second potting reservoir. The signal contact is arranged within the housing, and the outer shield defines a standing wall surrounding the signal contact in a circumferential direction. The first potting reservoir is defined by a first face of the standing wall and a second face of the standing wall facing opposite the first face. The standing wall forms a boundary between the first potting reservoir and the second potting reservoir and defines a passage adapted to permit an uncured potting agent to pass between the first potting reservoir and the second potting reservoir.
Claims20
An electrical connector, comprising:
- a housing;
- an outer shield defining a standing wall and received within the housing;
- a first potting reservoir formed in a hollow shape in a region coming into contact with a first face of the standing wall and including a first opening, the first potting reservoir is defined by the first face of the standing wall;
- and
- a second potting reservoir formed in a hollow shape in a region coming into contact with a second face of the standing wall and including a second opening that is opened in a direction identical to a direction of the first opening of the first potting reservoir, the second potting reservoir is defined by the second face of the standing wall and a portion of the housing, the second face of the standing wall is opposite the first face of the standing wall, the standing wall having a passage adapted to permit an uncured potting agent to pass between the first potting reservoir and the second potting reservoir, and
- a potting mass formed by the curing of the potting agent and formed integrally over the first potting reservoir and the second potting reservoir.
An electrical connector, comprising:
- a housing;
- a signal contact arranged within the housing;
- an outer shield defining a standing wall and received within the housing, the standing wall surrounding the signal contact in a circumferential direction;
- a first potting reservoir formed in a hollow shape, the first potting reservoir defined by a first face of the standing wall and having a first opening opened in a first direction, the signal contact protruding through the first potting reservoir;
- and
- a second potting reservoir defined at least partially by a second face of the standing wall and a portion of the housing, the second face of the standing wall is opposite the first face of the standing wall, the second potting reservoir including a second opening opened in the first direction, the standing wall forming a boundary between the first potting reservoir and the second potting reservoir and having a passage adapted to permit an uncured potting agent to pass between the first potting reservoir and the second potting reservoir.
