Dialysis treatment modalities; method and devices

A computer-implemented method for determining at least one treatment modality of a dialysis treatment of a specific patient using a dialysis liquid, the method comprising:

• receiving at least one value out of a group of values, the group of values consisting of:
• a first value reflecting an over hydration (OH) of the patient, a second value reflecting a salinity or osmolarity of the patient, a third value reflecting a blood pressure of the patient, a fourth value reflecting a renal function of the patient, a fifth value reflecting a heart issue of the patient, a sixth value reflecting hypotension of the patient, a seventh value reflecting vessel conditions, and an eighth value reflecting a total protein content of the patient;
• determining the at least one treatment modality for an upcoming treatment of the specific patient using the at least one value out of the group of values and using reference material, wherein determining the at least one treatment modality comprises determining a number of bags to be used in the upcoming treatment of the specific patient, wherein each bag of the number of bags contains a dialysis liquid with sodium concentrations lower than 135 mmol/liter, wherein the reference material comprises stored information from previous treatments of the patient and at least one threshold value based at least in part on the stored information from the previous treatments, and wherein determining the at least one treatment modality comprises comparing the at least one value out of the group of values to the at least one threshold value of the reference material;
• outputting a result of the determination on a display;
• and
• upon the determining of the at least one treatment modality, automatically controlling a treatment apparatus to automatically initiate the upcoming treatment on the specific patient, wherein the upcoming treatment uses the number of bags.
