Systems and methods for recommending physical activity associated with media content

A system comprising:

• a control circuitry configured to:
• identify a segment of a media content item that is currently being displayed via a user interface of a user device or that is to be displayed via the user interface of the user device, wherein the segment depicts a character of the media content item performing an activity;
• identify an activity area of the user interface at which the depiction of the character performing the activity in the segment of the media content item is present or will be present;
• identify a number of pixels corresponding to the activity area;
• determine that the number of pixels exceeds a threshold number of pixels;
• based at least in part on determining that the number of pixels exceeds the threshold number of pixels, determine that a sub-content area of the user interface is permitted to at least partially overlap the activity area, wherein the sub-content area comprises an indication of a recommended activity for performance by a user of the user device;
• generate, for simultaneous display at the user device, the indication of the recommended activity at the sub-content area and the segment of the media content item at the activity area, such that the sub-content area at least partially overlaps the activity area.
