Abstract
An impact detection system for a vehicle includes an in-vehicle information capture device for vehicle monitoring having at least one sensor to capture input information in relation to at least one measurable parameter relating to the vehicle, and a mobile computing device operating a software application with an impact detection algorithm to detect an impact based on the information sensed by the in-vehicle information capture device and when an impact is detected, to push an electronic notification of the impact detection to a third-party system.
Claims19
An impact detection system for a vehicle, the system comprising:
- a. an in-vehicle information capture device for vehicle monitoring having at least one sensor to capture input information in relation to at least one measurable parameter relating to the vehicle, and at least one internal power supply independent of a vehicle power supply, the in-vehicle information capture device being located in a fixed position within the vehicle;
- and
- b. a mobile computing device operating a software application with an impact detection algorithm to detect an impact based on the input information sensed by the in-vehicle information capture device and, when an impact is detected, to push an electronic notification of the impact detection to a third-party system, wherein the software application operating on the mobile computing device is initialised each time the mobile computing device comes into range of the in-vehicle information capture device.
