Abstract
Described is a system and method for enabling dynamic selection of a search input. For example, rather than having a static search input box, the search input may be dynamically positioned such that it encompasses a portion of displayed information. An image segment that includes a representation of the encompassed portion of the displayed information is generated and processed to determine an object represented in the portion of the displayed information. Additional images with visually similar representations of objects are then determined and presented to the user.
Claims11
A computer-implemented method, comprising:
- causing a plurality of search results to be presented on a user device in response to a search;
- causing a dynamic search control to be presented on the user device in an initial position over a first portion of a first search result of the plurality of search results, wherein the dynamic search control is user-interactive, such that a user may interact with the dynamic search control to adjust a size and a position of the dynamic search control, so as to dynamically position the dynamic search control over the first search result;
- determining a first object represented in an image segment corresponding to the first portion;
- in response to the determination of the first object:
- determining a plurality of images that include a respective second object that is visually similar to the first object;
- determining a plurality of keywords associated with the plurality of images, wherein the plurality of keywords are determined from attributes, metadata, or descriptions of the plurality of images;
- and
- determining a ranking of the plurality of keywords based on a frequency with which one or more of the plurality of keywords are associated with the plurality of images;
- causing at least a portion of the plurality of images to be presented on the user device;
- causing at least a portion of the plurality of keywords to be presented on the user device in accordance with the ranking;
- receiving a selection of a first keyword from the plurality of keywords;
- determining, in response to the selection of the first keyword, a re-ranking of the plurality of images;
- determining, in response to the selection of the first keyword, a re-ranking of non-selected keywords of the plurality of keywords;
- and
- causing at least a portion of the re-ranked plurality of images and at least a portion of the re-ranked non-selected keywords to be presented on the user device according to the respective re-rankings.
A computing system, comprising:
- one or more processors;
- and
- a memory coupled to the one or more processors and storing program instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to at least:
- determine, in response to a search received from a user device, a plurality of search results responsive to the search;
- cause at least a portion of the plurality of search results to be presented on the user device;
- cause a dynamic search control to be presented on the user device and positioned in an initial position over a first portion of a first search result of the plurality of search results;
- receive a first user interaction with the dynamic search control to adjust a size of the dynamic search control and a position of the dynamic search control relative to the first search result;
- in response to the user interaction, adjust the dynamic search control relative to the first search result to alter the dynamic search control such that the dynamic search control is repositioned from the initial position over the first portion to a second position where the dynamic search control is positioned over a second portion of the first search result so that the dynamic search control encompasses an area of the first search result;
- determine a first object represented in the area encompassed by the dynamic search control;
- determine a plurality of images that include a respective second object that is visually similar to the first object;
- determining a plurality of keywords associated with the plurality of images, wherein the plurality of keywords are determined from attributes, metadata, or descriptions of the plurality of images;
- determine a ranking of the plurality of keywords based on a frequency with which one or more of the plurality of keywords are associated with the plurality of images;
- cause at least a portion of the plurality of images to be presented on the user device;
- determine, in response to a first user selection of a first keyword via a second user interaction with the first keyword, a re-ranking of the plurality of images;
- determining, in response to the selection of the first keyword, a re-ranking of non-selected keywords of the plurality of keywords;
- and
- cause at least a portion of the re-ranked plurality of images and at least a portion of the re-ranked non-selected keywords to be presented on the user device according to the respective re-rankings.
