Discovery crawler for application dependency discovery, reporting, and management tool

A monitoring device comprising:

• one or more processors;
• and
• memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, causes the monitoring device to:
• receive, by a monitoring application, a request to create a first monitoring dashboard for a first application;
• identify a plurality of dependencies associated with the first application;
• query a monitoring interface application to determine a set of monitoring interfaces associated with at least a first dependency of the identified plurality of dependencies associated with the first application;
• automatically select, by the monitoring application, at least one first monitoring interface of the set of monitoring interfaces associated with the first dependency for inclusion in the first monitoring dashboard based on determining that a different second application also depends on the same first dependency and that the first monitoring interface is included in a pre-existing second monitoring dashboard provided by the monitoring interface application for the second application, wherein the second monitoring dashboard is different from the first monitoring dashboard;
• create the first monitoring dashboard for the first application, wherein the first monitoring dashboard includes the selected first monitoring interface to monitor the first dependency based on determining that the first monitoring interface is included in the second monitoring dashboard;
• detect, by the monitoring application and using the first monitoring interface included in the first monitoring dashboard, that an operating status of the first dependency satisfies a first unhealthy operating status threshold;
• and
• generate, by the monitoring application and based on the detecting, an alert indicating:
• that the first application depends on the first dependency, and
• that the first dependency has an unhealthy operating status.

One or more non-transitory computer readable media storing instructions that, when executed by one or more processors, cause a monitoring device to perform steps comprising:

• receiving, by a monitoring application, a request to create a first monitoring dashboard for a first application;
• identifying a plurality of dependencies associated with the first application;
• querying a monitoring interface application to determine a set of monitoring interfaces associated with at least a first dependency of the identified plurality of dependencies associated with the first application;
• automatically selecting, by the monitoring application, at least one first monitoring interface of the set of monitoring interfaces associated with the first dependency for inclusion in the first monitoring dashboard based on determining that a different second application also depends on the same first dependency and that the first monitoring interface is included in a second monitoring dashboard provided by the monitoring interface application for the second application, wherein the second monitoring dashboard is different from the first monitoring dashboard;
• creating the first monitoring dashboard for the first application, wherein the first monitoring dashboard includes the selected first monitoring interface to monitor the first dependency based on determining that the first monitoring interface is included in the second monitoring dashboard;
• detecting, by the monitoring application and using the first monitoring interface included in the first monitoring dashboard, that an operating status of the first dependency satisfies a first unhealthy operating status threshold;
• and
• generating, by the monitoring application and based on the detecting, an alert indicating:
• that the first application depends on the first dependency, and
• that the first dependency has an unhealthy operating status.
