System and method of food mapping for safety compliance

A computer-implemented method for food safety mapping, the method comprising:

• acquiring, via a wireless receiver, an encoded unique identifier for a food item;
• saving, in a database of a memory element, food situation metadata for the food item and the encoded unique identifier in a food item record, the food situation metadata including one or both of a physical location or an associated equipment type and being acquired via a user interface;
• determining a regulatory rule for the food item based at least in part on the food situation metadata;
• acquiring, via a temperature sensor, current food temperature data for the food item;
• analyzing the current food temperature data under the regulatory rule to determine whether an exception has occurred;
• wirelessly acquiring a second encoded unique identifier for a second food item;
• acquiring, via the user interface or a second user interface, second food situation metadata regarding the second food item, the second food situation metadata including one or both of a physical location or an associated equipment type;
• saving, in the database, the second food situation metadata and the second encoded unique identifier in a second food item record;
• determining a second regulatory rule for the second food item based at least in part on the second food situation metadata;
• acquiring second current food temperature data for the second food item via a second temperature sensor contemporaneously with the acquisition of the current food temperature data via the temperature sensor, and
• analyzing the second current food temperature data under the second regulatory rule to determine whether an exception has occurred.
