Target shooting, gaming, and data acquisition systems, and associated devices and methods

A target shooting system, comprising:

• a target unit deployable at a first location at or near a location of a target;
• and
• a base unit deployable at a second location different from the first location,
• wherein:
• the target unit and the base unit are configured to communicate with one another over a communication link;
• the target unit is further configured to detect projectile hits on the target and communicate data relating to the projectile hits to the base unit via the communication link;
• the base unit is further configured to communicate, to the target unit and via the communication link, commands for controlling the target unit;
• the communication link is a first communication link;
• the base unit is further configured to communicate with a software application on a user device over a second communication link different from the first communication link to receive information input by a user to the software application;
• the information includes a type of a shooting device used to shoot a projectile at the target;
• at least one of a shot detection score, a target miss score, or a shooter reaction time score of the user is based on the type of the shooting device;
• and
• the information includes an identification of a shooting lane in which the target is positioned and the at least one of the shot detection score, the target miss score, or the shooter reaction time score of the user is based on the identification of the shooting lane.
