Abstract
A liner assembly for a combustor. The liner assembly includes a liner defining a combustion chamber of the combustor. The liner includes a looped section at a forward end of the liner. The looped section includes one or more bends such that the looped section forms a compliant joint and vibrations are dampened through the liner downstream of the looped section.
Claims20
A liner assembly for a combustor, the liner assembly comprising:
- a liner defining a combustion chamber of the combustor, the liner including a first looped section and a second looped section at a forward end of the liner, the first looped section having a first U-shape, a first C-shape, or a first omega shape defining a first cavity and the second looped section having a second U-shape, a second C-shape, or a second omega shape defining a second cavity, the first looped section and the second looped section are oriented opposite to one another such that the first looped section and the second looped section open in opposite directions, the first looped section and the second looped section forming a compliant joint such that vibrations are damped through the liner downstream of the first looped section and the second looped section;
- and
- one or more fastening mechanisms configured to fasten one or more cowls and an annular dome assembly to the liner,
- wherein the first looped section and the second looped section are positioned downstream of the one or more fastening mechanisms.
A combustor assembly for a combustion section of a gas turbine engine, the combustor assembly comprising:
- one or more cowls;
- an annular dome assembly;
- a liner defining a combustion chamber, the liner including a first looped section and a second looped section at a forward end of the liner, the first looped section having a U-shape, a C-shape, or an omega-shape defining a first cavity and the second looped section having a U-shape, a C-shape, or an omega-shape defining a second cavity, the first looped section and the second looped section are oriented opposite to one another such that the first looped section and the second looped section open in opposite directions, the first looped section and the second looped section forming a compliant joint such that vibrations are damped through the liner downstream of the first looped section and the second looped section;
- and
- one or more fastening mechanisms configured to fasten the one or more cowls and the annular dome assembly to the liner,
- wherein the first looped section and the second looped section are positioned downstream of the one or more fastening mechanisms.
