Abstract
A sealing assembly for a fluid end of a reciprocating pump is installable within a segment of a casing of the fluid end and is arranged to form a seal with the segment. The sealing assembly includes a closure element and a seal element. The closure element has a sealing portion with a lateral surface that faces an interior wall of the segment of the fluid end. The seal element is sized to be installed around the closure element and includes a seal and one or more seal carriers. The seal is configured to form a seal between the lateral surface of the closure element and the interior wall of the segment. The one or more seal carriers are configured to position the seal with respect to the closure element.
Claims20
A sealing assembly for a fluid end of a reciprocating pump, the sealing assembly being installable within a segment of a casing of the fluid end and being arranged to form a seal with the segment, the sealing assembly comprising:
- a closure element with a sealing portion, the sealing portion having a lateral surface that faces an interior wall of the segment;
- and
- a seal element extending axially from an annular outer surface to an annular inner surface, the seal element comprising:
- a seal installed on and around the lateral surface, the seal being configured to form a seal between the lateral surface of the closure element and the interior wall of the segment;
- and
- one or more seal carriers installed on and around the lateral surface, the one or more seal carriers configured to position the seal with respect to the closure element,
- wherein the closure element comprises a first body portion, a second body portion, and a bolt that removably secures the first body portion to the second body portion, and when the sealing assembly is fully assembled, the first body portion is configured to contact the annular outer surface along its entire circumference and the second body portion is configured to contact the annular inner surface along its entire circumference.
A sealing assembly for a fluid end of a reciprocating pump, the sealing assembly being installable within a segment of a casing of the fluid end and being arranged to form a seal with the segment, the sealing assembly comprising:
- a closure element with a sealing portion, the sealing portion having a lateral surface that faces an interior wall of the segment;
- and a seal element extending axially from an annular outer surface to an annular inner surface, the seal element comprising:
- a seal installed on and around the lateral surface, the seal being configured to form a seal between the lateral surface of the closure element and the interior wall of the segment;
- and one or more seal carriers installed on and around the lateral surface, the one or more seal carriers configured to position the seal with respect to the closure element, wherein the closure element comprises a first body portion with a cavity and a second body portion with a protrusion, and when the sealing assembly is fully assembled, the protrusion extends into the cavity, one or more seals are disposed between the protrusion and the cavity, the first body portion is configured to contact the annular outer surface along its entire circumference, and the second body portion is configured to contact the annular inner surface along its entire circumference.
