Abstract
The present invention relates to improved contact lens packages and methods of use and manufacture/assembly. A contact lens package may include a cavity that houses a contact lens, packaging solution, and an absorbent member. In one aspect, the absorbent member may be configured for transitioning between an expanded state and a compressed state, and the absorbent member may be in the compressed state when the package is in an unopened state.
Claims38
A contact lens package comprising:
- a base;
- and a lid connected to the base, wherein
- the base and the lid collectively define a cavity that houses a contact lens, packaging solution, and an absorbent member;
- the base comprises a lens support comprising an internal surface having a convex shape, and the internal surface of the lens support engages a concave surface of the contact lens and supports the contact lens within the cavity;
- the absorbent member is configured for transitioning between an expanded state and a compressed state, and
- the absorbent member is in the compressed state when the package is in an unopened state;
- wherein the base further comprises an absorbent-member support, disposed adjacent the lens support, that supports the absorbent member within the cavity.
