Lane connectivity analysis

One or more processors comprising:

• processing circuitry to cause performance of operations comprising:
• identifying, for individual traffic lanes corresponding to different directions of travel that intersect each other at an intersection and based at least on semantic information included in map data corresponding to the intersection, respective combinations of ingress and egress directions corresponding to the individual traffic lanes and other lanes corresponding to the intersection, the semantic information indicating one or more constraints corresponding to vehicular movement between lanes within the intersection of one or more roads that intersect at the intersection;
• selecting, as selected combinations, a plurality of combinations of ingress and egress directions based at least on the one or more constraints;
• ranking the selected combinations based at least on one or more of:
• one or more movement-defining physical characteristics corresponding to the lanes associated with respective selected combinations;
• or
• one or more movement-defining regulatory characteristics corresponding to the lanes associated with the respective selected combinations;
• calculating lane connectivity for the intersection based at least on the rankings of the selected combinations;
• and
• adding an indication of the lane connectivity to the map data,
• wherein one or more machines perform one or more maneuvers based at least on the indication of lane connectivity included in the map data.

A system comprising:

• one or more processors to perform one or more navigation, localization, or control operations used by a machine to maneuver through an intersection based at least on a right of way determination made based at least on lane connectivity information corresponding to the intersection as included in map data of an area that includes the intersection, wherein the intersection includes two or more lanes that correspond to different directions and that cross each other in the intersection and wherein the map data is updated at least by:
• calculating lane connectivity for an intersection based at least on one or more constraints that dictate permissible and impermissible vehicular movement between lanes within the intersection, the one or more constraints being determined based at least on semantic information corresponding to the intersection, the lane connectivity indicating an ingress and egress relationship between at least two of the lanes, the calculating of the lane connectivity further including removing lane connections that are identified as being impermissible based at least on the one or more constraints;
• and
• adding an indication of the lane connectivity to at least a subset of the map data corresponding to the intersection.
