Abstract
A flexible display device for a vehicle includes a casing having an opening, a display part to be retracted or extended into or out of the casing through the opening, a display driver configured to move the display part, and a display winder configured to wind the display part based on movement of the display part.
Claims17
A flexible display device for a vehicle, comprising:
- a casing having an opening;
- a display part configured to be retracted into and extended out of the casing through the opening;
- a display driver configured to move the display part into and out of the casing through the opening;
- and
- a display winder configured to wind and unwind the display part as the display part is retracted into and extended out of the casing, respectively;
- and
- a sensor recognizer configured to detect an extension state of the display part,
- wherein the display part is extended out of the casing based on a plurality of display modes having different extension ranges, the display modes including a first mode in which the display part is retracted completely within the casing, a second mode in which the display part is retained in a position at which a first portion of the display part is exposed outside of the casing, and a third mode in which the display part is retained in a position at which a second portion of the display part is exposed outside of the casing, the second portion being greater than the first portion,
- wherein:
- the display winder includes a rotary drum having an outer circumferential surface on which the display part is wound;
- and
- the sensor recognizer is configured to detect when the display part is in the first mode, the second mode, and the third mode, respectively, based on a rotation state of the rotary drum,
- wherein:
- the sensor recognizer includes:
- a plurality of sensors located inside the casing;
- and
- a detection part connected to the rotary drum and configured to be detected by the plurality of sensors;
- and
- the detection part has a shape that enables the detection part to be detected by only one of the plurality of sensors at a time depending on the rotation state of the rotary drum,
- wherein:
- the display driver includes a motor connected to the casing, and a driving arm connecting the motor and the display part;
- and
- the display driver being configured to drive the motor to move the driving arm which in turn moves the display part based on the extension state of the display part, and
- wherein:
- the plurality of sensors includes a first sensor, a second sensor, and a third sensor for indicating when the display part is in the first mode, the second mode, and the third mode, respectively, and
- each of the first sensor, the second sensor, and the third sensor is positioned to detect the detection part when a position of the detection part corresponds to the display part being in the first mode, the second mode, and the third mode, respectively.

A flexible display device for a vehicle, comprising:
- a casing;
- a rotary drum having an outer circumferential surface;
- a flexible plastic organic light-emitting diode (POLED) display configured to be retracted into the casing or extended out of the casing by winding or unwinding the POLED display on the outer circumferential surface of the rotary drum, wherein the POLED display is extended based on a plurality of display modes having different display extension ranges, the display modes including a first mode in which the POLED display is retracted completely within the casing, a second mode in which the POLED display is retained in a position at which a first portion of the display part is exposed outside of the casing, and a third mode in which the POLED display is retained in a position at which a second portion of the display part is exposed outside of the casing, the second portion being greater than the first portion;
- and
- a sensor recognizer configured to detect an extension state of the display part,
- wherein:
- the sensor recognizer is configured to detect when the display part is in the first mode, the second mode, and the third mode, respectively, based on a rotation state of the rotary drum,
- the sensor recognizer includes:
- a plurality of sensors located inside the casing;
- and
- a detection part connected to the rotary drum and configured to be detected by the plurality of sensors;
- and
- the detection part has a shape that enables the detection part to be detected by only one of the plurality of sensors at a time depending on the rotation state of the rotary drum,
- wherein:
- the display driver includes a motor connected to the casing, and a driving arm connecting the motor and the display part;
- and
- the display driver being configured to drive the motor to move the driving arm which in turn moves the display part based on the extension state of the display part, and
