Abstract
The present specification discloses a photobiomodulation therapy garment having a garment structure configured to be worn by a user atop a skin surface with one or more near-infrared light sources integrated with the garment structure. The near-infrared light source is configured to emit near-infrared light directed to one or more regions of interest of the skin at a wavelength between 600 nm to 1600 nm and at a predetermined dosimetry and duration. A controller with a processor and memory is in communication with the near-infrared light source to control the operational parameters of the near-infrared light source.
Claims22
A garment comprising a photobiomodulation unit and a controller:
- the garment being a shirt or pants,
- the photobiomodulation unit comprising a connection terminal, one or more near-infrared light source groupings, and one or more sensors, the connection terminal in electronic communication with the one or more near-infrared light source groupings and one or more sensors,
- wherein the one or more near-infrared light source groupings comprise one or more near-infrared light sources, each of the one or more near-infrared light sources are configured to emit near-infrared light at a wavelength between 750 nm to 1200 nm,
- wherein when the garment is the shirt, the one or more near-infrared light source groupings are positioned over a torso region, the torso region including a shoulder region comprising one or more near-infrared light source groupings, a back region comprising one or more near-infrared light source groupings and an abdominal region comprising one or more near-infrared light source groupings,
- wherein the one or more near-infrared light source groupings of the shoulder region are each 10 cm2 to about 60 cm2, wherein the one or more near-infrared light source groupings of the shoulder region are each configured to generate a radiant flux or power of at least 1,250 mW to at most 9,000 mW, and generate an average irradiance or flux density of at least 10 mW/cm2 to at most 400 mW/cm2 on a skin surface of the shoulder region,
- wherein the one or more near-infrared light source groupings of the back region are each 10 cm2 to about 60 cm2, wherein the one or more near-infrared light source groupings of the back region are each configured to generate a radiant flux or power of at least 1,250 mW to at most 9,000 mW, and generate an average irradiance or flux density of at least 10 mW/cm2 to at most 400 mW/cm2 on a skin surface of the back region,
- wherein the one or more near-infrared light source groupings of the abdomen region are each configured to generate a radiant flux or power of at least 1,250 mW to at most 9,000 mW and generate an average irradiance or flux density of at least 10 mW/cm2 to at most 400 mW/cm2 on a skin surface of the abdominal region, and
- wherein when the garment is the pants, the one or more near-infrared light source groupings are positioned over a leg region,
- wherein the one or more near-infrared light source groupings of the leg region are each about 10 cm2 to about 60 cm2, wherein the one or more near-infrared light source groupings of the leg region are each configured to generate a radiant flux or power of at least 1,250 mW to at most 9,000 mW and generate an average irradiance or flux density of at least 10 mW/cm2 to at most 400 mW/cm2 on a skin surface of the leg region, and
- the controller including a processor and a memory, the controller configured to operationally engage a terminal rail of the connection terminal in a manner that establishes electronic communication between the controller and the connection terminal, wherein the processor and the memory are configured with executable instructions that control one or more operational parameters of each of the one or more near-infrared light sources, each of the one or more sensors, or a combination thereof.
