Abstract
The disclosure relates to a drug delivery device including a plunger disposed within a case and an audible indicator that comprises a resilient element. The plunger is slidable from a proximal position to a distal position within the case and the resilient element is in a first configuration when the plunger is in the proximal position, such that the resilient element is deflected radially outwards to a second configuration during movement of the plunger from the proximal position towards the distal position. The resilient element moves from the second configuration towards the first configuration when the plunger moves towards or reaches the distal position, thereby generating an audible and tactile signal.
Claims30
An autoinjector comprising:
- a case adapted to receive at least a portion of a syringe;
- a needle coupled to a distal end of the syringe and movable between (i) a retracted position in which a distal tip of the needle is proximal to a distal end of the autoinjector, and (ii) an extended position in which the distal tip is distal to the distal end of the autoinjector;
- a plunger movable relative to the case along a longitudinal axis of the autoinjector between an initial position and a drug delivery position for delivering a medicament from the syringe;
- a sleeve configured to surround a proximal end of the plunger when the plunger is in the initial position, the sleeve comprising a body and a flexible arm movable relative to the body, the flexible arm comprising a proximal end coupled to the body and a distal end spaced from the body, wherein the distal end of the flexible arm is movable between a biased position and a relaxed position;
- and
- a first spring having (i) a distal end in direct engagement with the plunger for biasing the plunger in a distal direction and (ii) a proximal end in direct engagement with an interior surface of a proximal end of the sleeve, wherein the proximal end of the first spring is held in a fixed axial location as the plunger moves from the initial position to the drug delivery position;
- a second spring configured to move between a compressed state and an expanded state,
- wherein the autoinjector is configured such that (i) when the needle is in the extended position, the second spring is in the compressed state, and (ii) when the needle is in the retracted position, the second spring is in the expanded state,
- wherein the autoinjector is configured such that when the plunger is moved to the drug delivery position, the flexible arm moves from the biased position toward the relaxed position, and
- wherein the flexible arm is configured to generate an audible signal or a tactile signal to indicate completion of dispensing of the medicament when the flexible arm moves from the biased position toward the relaxed position.

An autoinjector comprising:
- a case adapted to receive at least a portion of a syringe;
- a sleeve comprising a body and a flexible arm movable relative to the body, the flexible arm comprising a first end coupled to the body and a second end spaced from the body, wherein the second end of the flexible arm is movable between a biased position and relaxed position;

- a plunger movable relative to the sleeve along a longitudinal axis of the autoinjector between an initial position and a drug delivery position for delivering a medicament from the syringe;
- wherein the autoinjector is configured such that after the plunger moves into the drug delivery position, the flexible arm is allowed to move from the biased position toward the relaxed position,
- wherein the autoinjector is configured such that an audible signal or a tactile signal is generated when the flexible arm reflexively moves from the deflected position toward the relaxed position, and
- wherein the flexible arm extends at an angle from the body of the sleeve when the flexible arm is in the relaxed position.

- a case adapted to receive at least a portion of a medicament container;
- a plunger movable relative to the case along a longitudinal axis of the drug delivery device between a first position and a second position for delivering a medicament from the medicament container, wherein the first position is a pre-released position;

- a sleeve configured to surround a proximal end of the plunger when the plunger is in the first position, the sleeve comprising a body and a flexible arm that is movable between a deflected position and a less-deflected position, wherein the flexible arm is in the less-deflected position when the plunger is in the first position,
- wherein the drug delivery device is configured such that an audible signal or a tactile signal is generated to indicate completion of dispensing of the medicament when the flexible arm moves from the deflected position to return toward the less-deflected position, and
- wherein the flexible arm extends at an angle from the body of the sleeve when the flexible arm is in the less-deflected position.
