Recombinant proteins, compositions and methods of stabilization thereof

A method for stabilizing a composition comprising a recombinant lectin protein of SEQ ID NO:

• 1 and stabilizing agent(s) during storage or exposure to light, comprising:
• a. introducing the composition into a container to obtain a stabilized composition, wherein
• i. the container resists light waves of wavelength between 100 nm and 500 nm;
• ii. a headspace of the container comprises inert atmosphere or vacuum;
• and
• iii. the stabilizing agent(s) comprises an amino acid or its salt;
• a surfactant;
• a sugar or carbohydrate;
• or a combination thereof;
• wherein the stabilized composition exhibits less than 5% of high molecular weight impurities or related substance impurities individually or in combination, optionally, when the composition is stored for a period of 6 months at a temperature ranging from 20° C.-25° C. and relative humidity of 60% or when the composition is stored for a period of 1 year at 2° C.-8° C.
