Abstract
Compounds of general Formula (I) wherein the elements A, L, R1 and R2 have a defined meaning, and their medical and non-medical use. The compounds may be used treatment of a subject in need of any one or more of anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidative, anti-ageing, or lipid metabolism modulation therapy or prophylaxis. The compounds may also be used as food or feed products, dietary supplements or cosmetic preparations.

A method for treating psoriasis, arthritis, or asthma in a subject in need thereof, comprising administering to said subject an effective amount of a preparation comprising a compound of 5, 11, 17, 23-sulfonato-25, 26, 27, 28-tetrahydroxycalix[4]arene:
- or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
A method of treating psoriasis, arthritis, or asthma in a subject in need thereof, comprising administering to said subject an effective amount of a composition comprising a compound 5, 11, 17, 23-sulfonato-25, 26, 27, 28-tetrahydroxycalix[4]arene:
- or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, and a pharmaceutically acceptable diluent, carrier or excipient.
