Abstract
A system for generating a treatment plan for repositioning a plurality of teeth comprises instructions to receive a digital data set representing the plurality of teeth, and determine a movement trajectory for repositioning, each tooth from an initial position and orientation towards a target position and orientation. The movement trajectory of at least one tooth comprises movement along a plurality of different directions. A movement velocity is determined for repositioning each tooth along the corresponding movement trajectory. The movement velocity is determined independently for each tooth, and the movement velocity for the at least one tooth is determined independently for each direction.
Claims16
A system comprising:
- a fabrication machine;
- and
- a digital device comprising:
- one or more processors;
- and
- memory communicatively coupled to the one or more processors, wherein the memory comprises instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to:
- receive, by the one or more processors, a digital data set representing an initial tooth arrangement of a plurality of teeth;
- identify, by the one or more processors, a target planned tooth arrangement;
- determine, by the one or more processors, a linear movement trajectory for repositioning at least one tooth of the plurality of teeth along a line from an initial position and orientation in the initial tooth arrangement towards a target position and orientation in the target planned tooth arrangement over a plurality of stages, wherein the linear movement trajectory is based at least in part on the digital data set and the target planned tooth arrangement, the linear movement trajectory including a first directional component and a first movement velocity along the first direction component and a second directional component and a second movement velocity along the second direction component, wherein the first directional component and the second directional component are orthogonal to each other;
- determine, by the one or more processors, that the first movement velocity is less than a target velocity;
- increase, by the one or more processors, the first movement velocity along the first directional component for a first one or more stages of the plurality of stages;
- generate, by the one or more processors, a treatment plan, the treatment plan moving the at least one tooth along the first directional component at the increased first movement velocity and the second directional component at the second movement velocity from the initial position and orientation towards the target position and orientation along the first directional component in the first one or more stages of the plurality of stages and moving the at least one tooth along the second directional component towards the target position and orientation in the first one or more stages and a second one or more stages of the plurality of stage along the second directional component;
- and
- fabricate, by the fabrication machine, one or more orthodontic appliances to reposition the plurality of teeth based on the treatment plan.
