Abstract
Surgical devices and/or methods for forming a pathway in the body of a patient.
Claims21
A surgical device comprising:
- a tunneling element comprising a conduit, the conduit comprising a proximal end portion comprising a first polygonal cross-sectional shape which extends through an utmost proximal end of the tunneling element;
- a handle comprising a recess, the recess including a second polygonal cross-sectional shape corresponding to the first polygonal cross-sectional shape and configured to:
- releasably engage the first polygonal cross-sectional shape of the tunneling element to cause the handle to be selectively locked into one of a plurality of different rotationally lockable positions relative to an outer surface of the tunneling element to cause a locked arrangement by which torquing of the handle is to be transmitted to the tunneling element;
- and
- selectively disengage from the outer surface of the tunneling element into an unlocked arrangement by which the handle is selectively adjustable into a respective one of the plurality of different rotationally lockable positions with respect to the outer surface of the tunneling element.
2 more elements
A surgical device comprising:
- a tunneling element defining a conduit which comprises an outer surface, wherein the outer surface includes a plurality of first mating elements proximate a proximal end portion of the tunneling element, wherein the plurality of first mating elements are circumferentially spaced apart on the outer surface;
- and
- a handle comprising a second mating element configured to:
- releasably engage a respective one of the plurality of first mating elements to selectively lock the handle into one of a plurality of different rotationally lockable positions relative to the outer surface of the tunneling element to cause a locked arrangement by which torquing of the handle is to be transmitted to the tunneling element;
- and
- selectively disengage from the respective one of the plurality of first mating elements into an unlocked arrangement by which the handle is selectively adjustable into a respective one of the plurality of different rotationally lockable positions with respect to the outer surface of the tunneling element.
3 more elements
A surgical device comprising:
- a tunneling element defining a conduit comprising an outer surface, the outer surface including a key at an utmost proximal end of the tunneling element;
- and
- a handle comprising a recess,
- wherein the key of the tunneling element and the recess of the handle are configured to:
- releasably engage each other to selectively lock the handle into one of a plurality of different rotationally lockable positions relative to the outer surface of the tunneling element to cause a locked arrangement which prevents rotation of the tunneling element with respect to the handle and by which torquing of the handle is to be transmitted to the tunneling element;
- and
- selectively disengage from each other into an unlocked arrangement by which the handle is selectively adjustable into a respective one of the plurality of different rotationally lockable positions with respect to the outer surface of the tunneling element.
