Abstract
A display system for an article of footwear includes a display device, a control module, and a power source. The display device includes an optoelectronic display. The control module is configured to communicate with the display device. The power source is embedded within a plate of the article of footwear. The plate includes carbon fiber and conductive filaments embedded within a substrate.
Claims17
An article of footwear, comprising:
- an upper attached to a sole structure along a periphery, wherein the sole structure includes a midsole and an outsole;
- a display device that includes an optoelectronic display;
- a control module that is embedded within a plate of the article of footwear, the control module being configured to communicate with the display device;
- and
- a power source that is embedded within the plate,
- wherein the plate is positioned adjacent to the midsole,
- wherein the plate includes conductive leads embedded within a substrate, and
- wherein the conductive leads are electrically connected to a connector on the periphery of the upper.
A method of manufacturing an article of footwear having an optoelectronic display configured to display a first color in a first portion of an upper and a second color in a second portion of the upper, wherein the second portion is different from the first portion and the first color is different from the second color, the method comprising:
- providing an optoelectronic display on an upper of an article of footwear;
- providing a circuit in a plate within a sole structure,
- wherein the circuit includes a storage cell, a control module, and conductive leads, and
- wherein a plurality of piezoelectric transducers are embedded within the plate disposed in the sole structure;
- and
- attaching the upper to the sole structure along a periphery, wherein the conductive leads are electrically connected to a connector on the periphery.
