Abstract
This invention generally relates to compositions comprising thaumatin-like proteins (TLP) and chitinases for use as laboratory reagents or biofungicides. The invention further relates to methods of detecting and inducing pathogen resistance in plants.
Claims13
A method of determining fungal burden of a Cannabis plant, the method comprising:
- obtaining a sample collected from the Cannabis plant;
- applying a lysis composition comprising an active Cannabis chitinase and an active Cannabis thaumatin-like protein (TLP) as lysing enzymes to the sample so as to lyse fungal cells when present in the sample, wherein the active Cannabis thaumatin-like protein (TLP) is from Cannabis sativa having at least 95% amino acid amino acid sequence identity to the full-length amino acid sequence as set forth in SEQ ID NO:
- 1;
- extracting genomic DNA (gDNA) or RNA from the lysed sample;
- and
- detecting a quantity of a fungal gene sequence when present in the genomic DNA (gDNA) or RNA, wherein detection of the quantity of the fungal gene sequence is indicative of the fungal burden of the Cannabis plant.
