Abstract
The disclosure relates to a 5th generation (5G) communication system or a 6th generation (6G) communication system for supporting higher data rates beyond a 4th generation (4G) communication system such as long term evolution (LTE). A method and an apparatus for selecting random access group and identifying radio network temporary identifier (RNTI) for random access procedure in next generation wireless communication system are provided.

A method performed by a terminal in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:
- receiving, from a base station, physical random access channel (PRACH) configuration information;
- transmitting, to the base station, a random access preamble for a random access procedure in a PRACH occasion;
- and
- monitoring a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) addressed to a radio network temporary identifier (RNTI) in a random access response window,
- wherein the RNTI is identified based on an index of a first slot of the PRACH occasion in a system frame in which the random access preamble is transmitted,
- wherein, in case that a subcarrier spacing is 15 kHz, 30 kHz, 60 kHz, or 120 kHz, the index of the first slot of the PRACH occasion in the system frame is determined based on the subcarrier spacing, and
- wherein, in case that a subcarrier spacing is 480 kHz or 960 kHz, the index of the first slot of the PRACH occasion in the system frame is determined based on an index of a slot for a subcarrier spacing of 120 kHz, where the index of the first slot of the PRACH occasion in the system frame is equal to or larger than 0 and less than 80.
A method performed by a base station in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:
- transmitting, to a terminal, physical random access channel (PRACH) configuration information;
- receiving, from the terminal, a random access preamble for a random access procedure in a PRACH occasion;
- and
- transmitting, to the terminal, a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) addressed to a radio network temporary identifier (RNTI) in a random access response window,
- wherein the RNTI is identified based on an index of a first slot of the PRACH occasion in a system frame in which the random access preamble is received,
- wherein, in case that a subcarrier spacing is 15 kHz, 30 kHz, 60 kHz, or 120 kHz, the index of the first slot of the PRACH occasion in the system frame is determined based on the subcarrier spacing, and
- wherein, in case that a subcarrier spacing is 480 kHz or 960 kHz, the index of the first slot of the PRACH occasion in the system frame is determined based on an index of a slot for a subcarrier spacing of 120 kHz, where the index of the first slot of the PRACH occasion in the system frame is equal to or larger than 0 and less than 80.
A terminal in a wireless communication system, the terminal comprising:
- a transceiver configured to transmit or receive a signal;
- and
- a controller coupled with the transceiver and configured to:
- receive, from a base station, physical random access channel (PRACH) configuration information,
- transmit, to the base station, a random access preamble for a random access procedure in a PRACH occasion, and
- monitor a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) addressed to a radio network temporary identifier (RNTI) in a random access response window,
- wherein the RNTI is identified based on an index of a first slot of the PRACH occasion in a system frame in which the random access preamble is transmitted,
- wherein, in case that a subcarrier spacing is 15 kHz, 30 kHz, 60 kHz, or 120 kHz, the index of the first slot of the PRACH occasion in the system frame is determined based on the subcarrier spacing, and
- wherein, in case that a subcarrier spacing is 480 kHz or 960 kHz, the index of the first slot of the PRACH occasion in the system frame is determined based on an index of a slot for a subcarrier spacing of 120 kHz, where the index of the first slot of the PRACH occasion in the system frame is equal to or larger than 0 and less than 80.
A base station in a wireless communication system, the base station comprising:
- a transceiver configured to transmit or receive a signal;
- and
- a controller coupled with the transceiver and configured to:
- transmit, to a terminal, physical random access channel (PRACH) configuration information,
- receive, from the terminal, a random access preamble for a random access procedure in a PRACH occasion, and
- transmit, to the terminal, a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) addressed to a radio network temporary identifier (RNTI) in a random access response window,
- wherein the RNTI is identified based on an index of a first slot of the PRACH occasion in a system frame in which the random access preamble is received,
- wherein, in case that a subcarrier spacing is 15 kHz, 30 kHz, 60 kHz, or 120 kHz, the index of the first slot of the PRACH occasion in the system frame is determined based on the subcarrier spacing, and
- wherein, in case that a subcarrier spacing is 480 kHz or 960 kHz, the index of the first slot of the PRACH occasion in the system frame is determined based on an index of a slot for a subcarrier spacing of 120 kHz, where the index of the first slot of the PRACH occasion in the system frame is equal to or larger than 0 and less than 80.
