Electronic device and method for adjusting display area of display on basis of intensity of light emitted from display

A method of operating an electronic device, the method comprising:

• displaying a preview screen using images obtained via a camera, via a display;
• while the preview screen is displayed using images obtained via the camera, receiving an input for obtaining an image via the camera disposed under the display,
• based on the input, displaying a screen functioning as a flash of the camera via the display, the screen including:
• a first portion having a first preset color;
• and
• a second portion having a second preset color darker than the first preset color, wherein the second portion of the screen is surrounded by the first portion of the screen,
• gradually changing a size of the first and second portions of the screen displayed via the display,
• while a size of the first and second portions of the screen is being gradually changed, identifying a light intensity via the camera,
• based on changes in the light intensity identified via the camera while a size of the first and second portions of the screen is being gradually changed, determining a size of the first portion of the screen and the size of the second portion of the screen that are to be used with respect to obtaining the image in accordance with the input, and
• while the screen including the first portion having the determined size and the second portion having the determined size is displayed, obtaining the image via the camera in accordance with the input.

An electronic device, comprising:

• a display;
• a camera;
• memory storing instructions;
• processor, comprising processing circuitry, operably coupled to the display, the camera, and the memory, and configured to execute the instructions to:
• control the display to display a first screen to display a preview image received from the camera, in the display,
• control the display to repeatedly display a second screen, including a first portion having a first preset color, and including a second portion having a second preset color different from the first preset color and including an opening, overlapping on the first screen, in response to receiving a input, based on displaying the first screen,
• identify a change of brightness of the preview image according to light emitted from the first portion, by adjusting a size of the first portion, based on repeatedly displaying the second screen, and
• obtain the image corresponding to the input, using the first portion in the second screen, having the size of the first portion adjusted based on the change of the brightness.
