Abstract
Positions of an image capture device during capture of a video may be transferred to a computing device before the video is transferred to the computing device. The positions of the image capture device may be used to determine a viewing window for the video before the video is obtained. The viewing window may be used to present a stabilized view of the video when the video is obtained. For example, a stabilized view of the video may be presented as the video is streamed to the computing device.
Claims20
An image capture device comprising:
- a housing;
- an image sensor carried by the housing and configured to generate a visual output signal conveying visual information based on light that becomes incident thereon, the visual information defining visual content;
- an optical element carried by the housing and configured to guide light to the image sensor;
- a position sensor carried by the housing and configured to generate a position output signal conveying position information based on positions of the image capture device, the position information characterizing the positions of the image capture device;
- and
- one or more physical processors carried by the housing and configured by machine-readable instructions to:
- capture a video, the video including the visual content having a field of view;
- transfer the position information for a portion of the video to a computing device, the position information for the portion of the video characterizing the positions of the image capture device during capture of the portion of the video, wherein the computing device determines placement of a viewing window within the field of view of the visual content of the portion of the video before the portion of the video is obtained by the computing device, the viewing window determined based on the position information for the portion of the video, the viewing window defining extents of the visual content to be included within a punchout of the visual content;
- and
- transfer video information defining the portion of the video to the computing device, wherein the computing device generates stabilized visual content of the portion of the video based on the viewing window, the stabilized visual content including the punchout of the extents of the visual content of the portion of the video defined by the viewing window, wherein the stabilized visual content is presented as a preview of the video.
An image capture device comprising:
- a housing;
- an image sensor carried by the housing and configured to generate a visual output signal conveying visual information based on light that becomes incident thereon, the visual information defining visual content;
- an optical element carried by the housing and configured to guide light to the image sensor;
- a position sensor carried by the housing and configured to generate a position output signal conveying position information based on positions of the image capture device, the position information characterizing the positions of the image capture device;
- and
- one or more physical processors carried by the housing and configured by machine-readable instructions to:
- capture a video, the video including the visual content having a field of view;
- transfer the position information for a portion of the video to a computing device, the position information for the portion of the video characterizing the positions of the image capture device during capture of the portion of the video, wherein the computing device determines a viewing window for the visual content of the portion of the video before the portion of the video is obtained by the computing device, the viewing window determined based on the position information for the portion of the video, the viewing window defining extents of the visual content to be included within a punchout of the visual content;
- and
- transfer video information defining the portion of the video to the computing device, wherein the computing device generates stabilized visual content of the portion of the video based on the viewing window, the stabilized visual content including the punchout of the extents of the visual content of the portion of the video defined by the viewing window.
A method for stabilizing videos, the method performed by an image capture device including an image sensor, an optical element, a position sensor, and one or more processors, the image sensor configured to generate a visual output signal conveying visual information based on light that becomes incident thereon, the visual information defining visual content, the optical element configured to guide light to the image sensor, the position sensor configured to generate a position output signal conveying position information based on positions of the image capture device, the position information characterizing the positions of the image capture device, the method comprising:
- capturing a video, the video including the visual content having a field of view;
- transferring the position information for a portion of the video to a computing device, the position information for the portion of the video characterizing the positions of the image capture device during capture of the portion of the video, wherein the computing device determines a viewing window for the visual content of the portion of the video before the portion of the video is obtained by the computing device, the viewing window determined based on the position information for the portion of the video, the viewing window defining extents of the visual content to be included within a punchout of the visual content;
- and
- transferring video information defining the portion of the video to the computing device, wherein the computing device generates stabilized visual content of the portion of the video based on the viewing window, the stabilized visual content including the punchout of the extents of the visual content of the portion of the video defined by the viewing window.
