Systems and methods to improve skip forward functionality

A system comprising:

• control circuitry configured to:
• receive an input during display of a media asset;
• based at least in part on receiving the input, retrieve metadata associated with the media asset;
• determine whether the media asset is part of a series of media assets;
• based at least in part on determining that the media asset is part of a series of media assets:
• retrieve a content viewing profile comprising information associated with other media assets in the series of media assets;
• identify portions of the other media assets in the series of media assets that were previously skipped;
• identify a common characteristic among the previously skipped portions of the other media assets in the series of media assets;
• identify a jump point in the media asset based at least in part on the common characteristic;
• and
• generate for display an indicator associated with the jump point.
