System and method for a social network of performing musicians

A social networking system for auditioning for a musician through integration and review of an ensemble of a set of remotely-performed and remotely-uploaded musical performances through a computer network that offers a community sharing function, the system comprising:

• a processor operably connected to a memory on a non-transitory computer readable medium;
• a receiving module operable for receiving audio data from a musical audition submission from an auditioner and a second musical audition submission from a second musician on a non-transitory computer readable medium, the set of remotely-performed and remotely-uploaded musical performances including the musical audition submission and the second musical audition submission each submission of which is an emulation of a select reference performance within a shared musical work;
• an integration engine embodied in a non-transitory computer readable medium, wherein the integration engine is operable to interface the timing of the musical audition submission with the timing of the second musical audition submission using a timing reference track that includes a tempo map in the creation of the ensemble;
• a community share functionality for sharing a recorded performance through the social network;
• and,
• an output module for transmitting audio data to an output device for use in the review of the musical audition submission and the second musical audition submission;
• wherein the timing reference track is selected from the group consisting of:
• a click-track;
• a drum track;
• a select reference track of a select reference performance, i, the select reference performance having a series of sound frequencies, each of the frequencies performed at a particular time in the select reference performance;
• a residual audio track representing a multi-track digital audio file, the residual track having a series of sound frequencies, each of the frequencies performed at a particular time in the residual audio track;
• and,
• a combination thereof;
• the timing reference used by the integration engine is one track in a multi-track digital audio file available upon request by the auditioner and the second audition musician, the multi-track digital audio file containing the shared musical work, highlighting the select reference performance, and including
• (i) T reference performances within the musical work, wherein T=Σi;
• and, i=1, 2, 3, . . . , or T;
• (ii) a select reference track of the select reference performance, i, the select reference performance having a series of sound frequencies, each of the frequencies performed at a particular time in the select reference performance;
• (iii) a residual audio track representing the multi-track digital audio file having the select reference performance removed;
• and,
• (iv) instructions for execution of the timing reference by the processor;
• and,
• the system enables the integration and review of the set of remotely-performed and remotely-uploaded musical audition performances including the musical audition submission and the second musical audition submission.
