Multiple groupings in a playback system

A non-transitory computer-readable medium, wherein the non-transitory computer-readable medium is provisioned with program instructions that, when executed by at least one processor, cause a first playback device to:

• while the first playback device is grouped with a second playback device of a media playback system such that the first playback device coordinates, via at least one wireless network interface, with the second playback device to play back first audio content, via an at least one audio transducer, in synchrony with playback of the first audio content by the second playback device:
• receive, via a wide area network (WAN), configuration data corresponding to a zone scene that identifies the first playback device and a third playback device of the media playback system;
• and receive a command to invoke the zone scene;
• and based on the command to invoke the zone scene and the configuration data corresponding to the zone scene, (i) ungroup from the second playback device, (ii) group with the third playback device such that the first playback device coordinates, via the at least one wireless network interface, with the third playback device to play back second audio content, via the at least one audio transducer, in synchrony with playback of the second audio content by the third playback device, and (iii) begin playing back the second audio content, via the at least one audio transducer, in synchrony with the playback of the second audio content by the third playback device.

A method carried out by a first playback device, the method comprising:

• while the first playback device is grouped with a second playback device of a media playback system such that the first playback device coordinates, via at least one wireless network interface, with the second playback device to play back first audio content, via at least one audio transducer, in synchrony with playback of the first audio content by the second playback device:
• receiving, via a wide area network (WAN), configuration data corresponding to a zone scene that identifies the first playback device and a third playback device of the media playback system;
• and
• receiving a command to invoke the zone scene;
• and
• based on the command to invoke the zone scene and the configuration data corresponding to the zone scene, (i) ungrouping from the second playback device, (ii) grouping with the third playback device such that the first playback device coordinates, via the at least one wireless network interface, with the third playback device to play back second audio content, via the at least one audio transducer, in synchrony with playback of the second audio content by the third playback device, and (iii) beginning playing back the second audio content, via the at least one audio transducer, in synchrony with the playback of the second audio content by the third playback device.
